Brooke McCarter, the actor best known for playing Paul in The Lost Boys, has died at the age of 52 from a genetic liver condition.
McCarter’s family issued a statement on Facebook announcing his death on December 22.
They said the cause of death was the genetic liver condition alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AAT).
The statement said: “Brooke was our loving son, brother, father, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend.
“Funeral arrangements are still being finalised. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
McCarter played the role of Paul in the 1987 vampire film The Lost Boys, alongside Kiefer Sutherland, when he was 24.
He also had roles in films such as Wired and Thrashin – the skateboard film which also featured Tony Hawk, Josh Brolin and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

McCarter was hospitalised earlier this year and passed away at his home in Tampa, Florida, according to People magazine.
He is survived by his daughter, Katlin, 12.
