Caitlyn Jenner has been criticised for comments made during an interview with Buzzfeed where she claimed the hardest part of being a woman was “figuring out what to wear”

Jenner has received widespread praise and support since appearing on the cover of Vanity Fair, talking for the first time about her transition after coming out as transgender.

Jenner has gone on to inspire countless men and women, but her comments, which were made after she was celebrated at Glamour Magazine’s Women Of The Year in New York were branded “offensive and insulting”.

Asked what the hardest part of being woman was, Jenner said:

“The hardest part about being a woman is figuring out what to wear. It’s always that way; I never thought it would come to this. I had really no sense of style. Everyone around me in my family had the sense of style — I learned as much as I possibly could.”

People began tweeting the other, harder things women have to deal with, such as institutionalised oppression, abuse and sexual assault.

Jenner says in the interview that the last six months have been a “progression” for her as she used her platform to explore and educate people on issues surrounding the trans community.

“I’m at a point [in my life] where I’m trying to figure this ‘womanhood’ thing out,” she admits.
