BALMORAL CASTLE

10 October: The Duke of Edinburgh, President, World Wide Fund for Nature - WWF International, this morning chaired a meeting and gave a Luncheon for the Executive Committee at Buckingham Palace.

His Royal Highness, Senior Fellow, this evening opened the new headquarters of the Royal Academy of Engineering, 29 Great Peter Street, Westminster, London SW1.

Captain Jonathan Walker was in attendance.

BUCKINGHAM PALACE

10 October: The Princess Royal this morning opened the new training centre for the Women's Education in Building based under the Westway, Ladbroke Grove, London W10.

Her Royal Highness, President, Save the Children Fund, this afternoon chaired a meeting of the Industry and Commerce Group followed by the annual corporate members' Reception at Marlborough House, London SW1.

Mrs Andrew Feilden was in attendance.

The Princess Royal, Patron, United Kingdom Antarctic Heritage Trust, accompaned by Commander Timothy Laurence RN, this evening attended the public lecture given by Sir Edmund Hillary on Antarctica at the Royal Geographical Society, Kensington Gore, London SW7.

YORK HOUSE

10 October: The Duke of Kent, Chancellor, the University of Surrey, this evening received the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Anthony Kelly on relinquishing the appointment and Mrs Kelly.

The Duchess of Kent, Patron, Cancer Relief Macmillan Fund, this afternoon left RAF Northolt for Madrid to attend the Asociacion Espanola Contra el Cancer Conference.

Mrs Richard Beckett was in attendance.

THATCHED HOUSE LODGE

10 October: Princess Alexandra, accompanied by the Hon Sir Angus Ogilvy, this evening attended a Reception at the Guards Museum, Wellington Barracks, Birdcage Walk, London SW1.

Her Royal Highness and the Hon Sir Angus Ogilvy later attended a Dinner to mark the opening of the James McNeill Whistler Exhibition at the Tate Gallery, Millbank, London SW1.

The Lady Nicholas Gordon Lennox was in attendance.

The Princess Royal, Patron, College of Occupational Therapists, opens the Phoenix Children's Resource Centre, Bromley, Kent; as Patron, SENSE, The National Deaf-Blind and Rubella Association, opens the Barnet Community Project, High Barnet, Hertfordshire; as President, Animal Health Trust, attends the Princess Royal's Industry Committee Guinness Luncheon at Guinness Landmark House, London W6; and attends the British Equestrian Olympic Fund Committee's fund-raising event at Burberry's, London SW1. The Duke of Kent, President, Engineering Council, attends a council meeting, Maltravers Street, London WC2; visits the Thames Magistrates' Court, London E3; and as President, Business and Technology Education Council, attends a dinner to mark the retirement of the Chairman, Plaisterers' Hall, London EC2.

The Queen's Gallery at Buckingham Palace opens between 10am and 5pm, and last admission is at 4.30pm.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; The Royal Logistics Corps mounts the Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the Coldstream Guards.
