Dadabhai Naoroji
A bust of Dadabhai Naoroji, the first Asian to be elected to the House of Commons (contesting the Finsbury Central constituency as a Liberal candidate in 1892), was unveiled yesterday at India House, London WC1, by Mrs Betty Boothroyd MP, Speaker of the House of Commons. Among those present were:
Dr LM Singhvi, High Commissioner for India; Dame Angela Rumbold MP; Mr Charles Kennedy MP; Mr Tony Blair MP; Ms Kusoom Vadgama; Mr Farrokh Jal Vajifdar; Shri Arvind Singh Mewar of Udaipur; Mrs Zerbanoo Gifford.
