David Bowie's wife Iman Abdulmajid posted a tweet to say "the struggle is real, but so is God", less than a day before the glam rock singer died.

Iman Abdulmajid, who married the musician in 1992, also tweeted on 9 January to say: "Sometimes you will never know the true value of a moment before it becomes a memory."

David Bowie's son Duncan Jones confirmed the news on Twitter, sharing a picture of himself as a child on his father's shoulders.

David Bowie married Somali-American model Iman Abdulmajid in 1992. She gave birth to their daughter Alexandria "Lexi" Zahra Jones in 2000.

He passed away on Sunday after an 18-month battle with cancer.

His death came three days after he celebrated his 69th birthday and the release of his 25th album '★' (Blackstar), on Friday.

The album, described as "the most extreme album of his entire career", was well received by critics.
