DMX and his entourage have been reported to the police for allegedly robbing a man at gun point at a gas station in New Jersey.

A 22-year-old man accused the rapper, real name Earl Simmons, of taking $3,200 from him in the early hours of Sunday morning, New York Daily News reports.

Newark Police were informed by a man who claims to have been the victim that a member of the rapper’s group had threatened him with a firearm before demanding money from him while he stopped at the Exxon station on 5 April at around 12.30am.

Newark police spokesman Sgt. Ronald Glover said in a statement: “During the conversation a male in DMX's entourage showed the victim a gun and demanded the victim's money.”

After handing over the cash, the alleged victim then claims the rapper took the money and drove off in one of four black Cadillac Escalades accompanying him.

He alleges he identified the rapper as DMX when he started discussing music, and he noted down the license plate of one of the vehicles as they left the scene.

Simmons, 44, was in New Jersey where he was scheduled to perform at the Master of Ceremony concert on Saturday 4 April.

DMX is yet to respond to request for comment.
