Donald Trump and his son Donald Trump Jr appear to have more in common than just their names. As the old adage goes, the apple does not fall far from the tree.

CNN has unearthed recordings of Donald Trump Jr’s interviews with radio shock jocks - a term for radio presenters who express opinions in a deliberately provocative or indeed offensive way - and they are somewhat reminiscent of his fathers.

The Republican presidential candidate’s frequent appearances on the Howard Stern Show from the late 90s until the 2000s have come back to haunt him on a number of occasions throughout his presidential campaign. On the show, Mr Trump rated females on their attractiveness, discussed women he has had sex with and women he wanted to have sex with.

But the property mogul is not the only Trump to have made his way around the shock jock circuit, his first child Donald Trump Jr has made multiple appearances on shows like Opie and Anthony, Opie with Jim Norton, and The Six Pack.

On the day a gunman killed a dozen people in a cinema in Colorado in 2012, Trump Jr appeared on Opie and Anthony and the hosts played a recording of a witness describing the tragic incident, to which Trump Jr. retorted, “Overall, I give the movie two thumbs up!”

Other controversial moments include Trump Jr lamenting the fact he can no longer mock overweight people due to political correctness. “By the way you can't, you can't even make fat jokes now without, like, there's a whole segment of people that like, that's almost the worst one like, it's easier to, like, do a racial thing, than it is a fat one because everyone knows they're fat and they get really offended that,” Trump Jr said.

“Well it's a disease,” a host replied. “Fat people get - everything's a disease,” Trump Jr responded.

“Yeah they're offended, until they lose weight,” said another host. “Laziness is a disease too,” Trump Jr. replied.

In other radio appearances, Trump Jr mocked the treatment of children in beauty pageants, assumed all Arab people were named “Mohammed” or “Ali” and came to the defence of his father’s rhetoric on immigrants. He also said there was footage on The Apprentice cutting room that would appeal to people with a “sick sense of humor” like his own.
