Duchess of Cambridge rolled eyes at charity order: She really didn't want to wrap presents

Proof that it’s impossible to be princess-perfect all the time

It’s not been an easy week for the Duchess of Cambridge.

First she was forced to endure a sweaty breach of royal protocol from LeBron James, who wrapped in his arm around her at a basketball match during their New York trip. The Duchess reacted with expected royal awkwardness.

Then she was forced to wrap presents at a children’s centre in Harlem – a task so arduous she briefly let down her princess guard and displayed irritation. She was busily packaging gifts when she was tapped on the shoulder and told to “keep wrapping”.

Looking slightly affronted, she mockingly rolled her eyes, but gallantly continued with her toil.

Despite her fleeting resistance, volunteers still welcomed her help. The presents will be sent to New York’s underprivileged children.

“We sat together wrapping gifts - she's my girl,” said grandmother of six Mary Dawkins, who joined the Duchess. “She said she has to wrap gifts when she gets home.”

Children at the Northside Center for Child Development also mistook the Duchess for Frozen character princess Elsa.

“They thought she was the Princess from Frozen,” said Rose Ann Harris, director of early childhood services.

“When the children heard she was coming they thought it was Elsa - we said a Princess and they got a Princess.

“The visit meant everything to the children, they were thrilled and it acknowledges all the hard work of the staff.”
