Excited NYPD tweets about escorting Rihanna to VMAs after party
'Just another day at work work work work work for Sgt. Balunas'

Even police are in awe of Rihanna.
The singer has built a global and adoring fan base partly from doing things her way, whether that be walking out of restaurants with wine glasses still in hand or strolling out of clubs in the early hours of the morning (again, often with her drink still in tow).
Mystery is also a contributing factor in her broad appeal. The enigmatic star has kept fans gripped with her 'will-they, won't-they' Drake saga which culminated on Sunday at the MTV Video Music Awards with a kiss on stage.

And getting access to Rihanna is no mean feat. Only a select few have the opportunity to get close to the star. On Sunday, the chosen ones included the New York Police Department, who in their excitement paid tribute to the singer with an image showing one of their officers grasping her hands as they gave her a police escort to a VMA’s after party.
The NYPD’s 6th Precinct department even paid homage to one of Rihanna’s songs. The officer's face suggests he is acutely aware this would be one of his better tasks of the day.
