Astoundingly, the rumour mill surrounding the breakdown of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s marriage is still turning, two weeks on from their official ‘conscious uncoupling’.

This time, the Coldplay frontman has been forced to deny that he had enjoyed an affair with a TV assistant.

US reports over the weekend claimed that the musician met the unnamed female backstage on American comedy show Saturday Night Live in 2011.

“He was openly flirting with her at one of the show's after-parties,” a source allegedly told the New York Post.

However, a spokesperson for Martin dismissed the rumours, saying: ”This is completely untrue, we totally deny it.“

Martin, 37, also rubbished reports of a fling with Kate Bosworth in 2009.

His string of denials follows a similar spate from Paltrow, who branded affair accusations "ridiculous".

"She doesn’t care what people think. She knows the truth," a source close to Paltrow was quoted as saying.

Paltrow’s publicist, Stephen Huvane, was forced to issue a blanket denial in February 2014 over claims that she had enjoyed an extra-marital affair with entertainment lawyer Kevin Yorn.

He told US website Defamer that the rumours were "completely false", while a spokesperson for Yorn said the claims were "categorically untrue."

The news follows an interview with Paltrow’s ex-boyfriend Donovan Leitch last week, during which he broke his silence on the open-mouthed, on-the-lips ‘goodbye kiss’ he was snapped enjoying with the married actress – in front of hers and Martin’s kids – in September 2013.

The British actor and documentary maker insisted that the moment was "purely innocent", and not intended to be romantic.

"I was just saying goodbye to her. It was purely innocent," he told the Mail on Sunday.
