Harrison Ford plane crash video: Passer-by records moments before emergency landing

Actor, who is now recovering in hospital, brought the plane done 'beautifully' according to local aviation experts

Footage has emerged purporting to show the last moments before Harrison Ford’s plane crash.

The 72-year-old actor, best known for his roles in Star Wars and as Indiana Jones, was flying his Second World War-era plane when the engine failed and he was forced to make an emergency landing over a golf course in Los Angeles.

A passer-by, identified only as Jason Clark, appears to have managed to film the final moments before the actor brought down the 1942 Ryan Aeronautical ST3KR on Penmar golf course.

In the unverified footage, Mr Clark can be heard asking to his unidentified companion: “Dude, his engine died, didn’t it?”

“Dude, dude,” shouts Mr Clark. “He’s landing on the courts.”

Mr Ford – an experienced pilot – was pulled from his aircraft by witnesses, who were concerned his plane might catch fire after the bumpy landing.

The actor took off from the LA airport at approximate 2pm yesterday. Only 20 minutes into his flight, he informed the tower he was experiencing engine failure and would be returning immediately. He had been flying at around 3,000ft when the engine cut out.

His calm response and landing were praised by Christian Fry, of the Santa Monica Airport Association, who said the landing – given the circumstances – was “beautifully executed”.

Mr Ford managed to avoid nearby homes and people and is now reportedly recovering in hospital, having sustained only minor injuries.
