James May has had his say on the "fracas" that saw Jeremy Clarkson suspended from BBC's Top Gear . Following reports that Clarkson "punched" a BBC producer because there wasn't food ready for the team after filming, May confirmed there was a "dust-up".
May, who was interviewed by BBC reporters outside his home, started out saying that he didn't have anything to add to the original statement saying Clarkson had been suspended pending an investigation.
"I don’t have anything to say about Jeremy that isn’t already in the statement," he said.
He did, however, reveal that there was a "dust-up" and that it was over dinner, as it was today reported.
"I think he’s been involved in a bit of a dust-up but I don’t think it’s that serious. But that’s all I want to say," May said.
When pressed over whether the altercation was about dinner, May responded: "Err, yes". The presenter added that he was not present to witness the "dust-up".

It had originally been reported that Clarkson "punched" a producer because there was no catering after the team had spent a day filming .
The BBC said on Tuesday: “Following a fracas with a BBC producer Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended pending an investigation. No one else has been suspended. Top Gear will not be broadcast this Sunday. The BBC will be making no further comment at this time.”
May has previously jumped to Clarkson's defence , saying that he was "not a racist" after Clarkson was accused of using the n-word during filming.
