Johnny Depp's assistant claims texts reportedly between himself and Amber Heard are 'heavily doctored'

Leaked texts recently surfaced, along with new photos showing Heard with bruises and cuts on her face, are questioned

Johnny Depp’s assistant Stephen Deuters has reportedly denied the authenticity of purported text messages between himself and Amber Heard which appear to show instances of alleged violence during the Hollywood couple’s marriage.

On Thursday, text messages obtained by Entertainment Tonight allegedly between Mr Deuters and Heard surfaced. The texts claim to be from May 2014, before the couple were marred.

Texts from the person purported to be Mr Deuters talking about Depp include: "He’s incredibly apologetic and knows that he has done wrong. He wants to get better now. He’s been very explicit about that this morning.

Another reads: "He was appalled. When I told him he kicked you, he cried. It was disgusting. And he knows it."

The recipient of the text, purported to be Heard, then replies: "He’s done this many times before. Tokyo, the island, London (remember that!?) and I always stay. Always believe he’s going to get better… And then every three or so months [sic], I’m in the exact same position."

Mr Deuters has now claimed these texts are "heavily doctored". According to TMZ, Mr Deuters "says he knows of no acts of abuse towards Amber at the hands of Johnny and has never made such a claim to anyone". He reportedly also suggested the messages were "suspicious" because they have no date stamp.

Mr Deuters also denies the 52-year-old actor has been violent to anyone he knows and reportedly said he would testify under oath that "he never had a conversation about alleged violence with Amber".

The report comes after new photos emerged of Heard with bruising around her eyes and with a cut on her lip. The images feature on the front cover of People magazine, which goes on sale in the US on Friday. The magazine claims the images are from an alleged incident of abuse from December, 2015.

Heard, 30, filed for divorce from Depp on 23 May citing "irreconcilable differences", ending their 15-month marriage. Days later, on May 27, Heard appeared at Los Angeles Superior County Court with a visible bruise on her face and obtained a temporary restraining order against the Pirates of the Caribbean actor.

In court papers, Heard claimed incidents where Depp had allegedly been violent towards her and claimed: "During the entirety of our relationship, Johnny has been verbally and physically abusive to me."

Depp has not publicly responded to the accusations but in court papers his lawyer, Laura Wasser, claimed: "Amber is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse. Her current application for a temporary restraining order along with her financial requests appear to be in response to the negative media attention she received earlier this week after filing for divorce."

Representatives for Heard and Depp did not immediately reply to requests for comment.
