Josh Duggar's family pastor says Caitlyn Jenner's transition is 'sad'
Rev. Ronnie Floyd proclaimed 'God didn't make him like that'
The Duggar family's Southern Baptist pastor Rev. Ronnie Floyd has told congregants at his church that Caitlyn Jenner should no longer be seen as "an American hero" following her transition.
Speaking at a Sunday sermon on 31 May, Floyd said the Olympic gold medallist's coming out as transgender was "sad" and proclaimed "God didn't make him like that".
Floyd also repeatedly referred to Caitlyn as "Bruce", rather than the name she chose following her transition. He went on to say Jenner was "just like you and me... born sinner[s] and born broken".
Speaking with People magazine about Josh Duggar a few days later, he said: "Everyone does wrong, and what was wrong was very wrong as to what was testified to and it's completely unacceptable.
"But I'm thankful, whether it's him or any other one, that I serve a God who can forgive everything.''
Caitlyn Jenner has spoken about the pressure women are under to look beautiful in a new documentary.
"So many people go through life and they never deal with their own issues. No matter what their issues. Ours happen to be with gender identity," she said. "Some people waste an entire life."
Josh Duggar, who came to fame in the US television programme 19 Kids and Counting, is alleged to have molested at least five underage girls when he was a teenager, including two of his sisters.
Duggar's parents Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar told Fox News of how their son molested his sisters as they slept, and said they felt like "failures" as a result of their son's actions.
"Twelve years ago, we went through one of the most darkest times that our family's ever gone through," Jim Bob Duggar said.
Duggar, 27, released a statement in May saying that he "acted inexcusably".
He apologised to his family and stepped down as executive director of FRC Action - a lobbying arm of the Family Research Council.
