Katie Hopkins accuses Labour MP Simon Danczuk of reporting her to the police to divert attention away from his porn habit

Katie Hopkins has fired another warning shot at Labour MP Simon Danczuk for reporting a series of tweets she sent him about Pakistani men to the police.

Speaking about the row at a recorded Sun+ event, Hopkins claimed his knee-jerk response to her comments were a ruse to divert attention away from the recent revelations about his “man of the world” porn watching habits.

“It might just be my hunch but I think it might be to do with the fact that he’s been favouriting porn sites, and that actually a large part of his constituents are Pakistani and he needs to win that vote,” Hopkins said.

Asked whether she stood by her remarks, she said: “I think I asked fair questions and I think it’s important that someone has the balls to speak out.

“I didn’t make it a racist issue, but I do think that raising a Pakistani Flag and then talking about community cohesion, I think those things don’t work in partnership. I think if someone had run to the police maybe ten years ago when this stuff was happening, that would have been a brave and bold thing to do.

“Running to the police over Katie Hopkins seems to be trivialising the issue somewhat.”

The interview follows a lengthy argument between Hopkins and Danczuk on the social network about his decision to mark National Pakistan Day on 23 March in Rochdale by raising the Pakistani flag for 30 minutes.

Hopkins claimed it was wrong to raise the flag in the constituency where, in 2012, nine men were jailed for their part in a paedophile ring. Eight of the men were of Pakistani origin.

“I don’t think we should beat about the bush here, Katie Hopkins is inciting racial hatred,” Danczuk told the Guardian.

“Rochdale has a proud history of coming together to mark special days in different cultures, from St Patrick’s Day to the Ukrainian Holodomor, and our town will not take any lessons from Katie Hopkins on community cohesion. She has waded into something she doesn’t understand and her ignorance is extremely dangerous.”

Danczuk raised the flag for less than half an hour, before posting a photograph of himself with two Pakistani men at the ceremony.

Hopkins replied with an image of eight of the men who were sentenced for sex abuse, writing: “Are these your friends too ‪@SimonDanczuk? Is this why you are raising the Pakistani flag in Rochdale? 77 years inside.”

“Your Pakistani friends saw young white girls as fair game when they abused them,” she wrote in a separate post. “Do NOT lecture me on community cohesion fool.”

“Raising a Pakistani flag in Rochdale is not helping community cohesion,” she added in another. “It is inflammatory. ‪@SimonDanczuk you & your party disgust me.”

Danczuk has since written a dedicated piece on why he made the decision to shop Hopkins in the first place.
