Coronation Street's Kym Marsh is "horrified" at reports that a sex tape purportedly featuring her is being offered for sale and could be made public.

The Sun on Sunday reported that one of their journalists was shown a video of a woman performing a sex act on a man, with the footage up for sale.

Also allegedly being offered for sale were naked and erotic images, purported to be of Marsh, 40.

A spokesman for Marsh said: "Kym is understandably horrified at the claims made in today's newspaper.

"The matter has now been handed to the police who have launched an investigation.

"We trust that the Sun newspaper will co-operate fully in identifying the individual behind this plot so that they can be held to account."

The Sun on Sunday was asked for £30,000 for the footage but did not make an offer.

A new law on revenge porn came into effect last year, making it a crime to share sexually explicit images without the subject's consent.
