Matthew Perry has admitted he can’t remember much from three years of Friends because he was “a little out of it at the time”.

Perry became a household name overnight after being cast as Chandler Bing, the sarcastic, awkward friend and one-half of the series’ most enduring couples.

But being propelled to international fame in 1994 was soon followed by an addiction to alcohol and prescription drugs, although Perry has stressed he was often “painfully hungover” but never inebriated during filming.

When asked to name his least favourite episode of Friends, he told BBC Breakfast host Chris Evans: “I think the answer is I don't remember three years of it, so none of those. I was a little out of it at the time. Somewhere between seasons three and six.”

Perry attended rehab twice during his run on Friends. He has since opened his own rehabilitation centre for alcoholics.
