Maya Rudolph has been asked on 'a daily basis' to impersonate Rachel Dolezal – and she finally did it on Late Night with Seth Meyers

People have been asking Maya Rudolph to impersonate Rachel Dolezal “on a daily basis,” the Bridesmaids star told Seth Meyers on his show this week.

“People keep saying ‘It’s too bad you haven’t been on [Saturday Night Live] since 2007, you have to play this lady!’, she said.

Rudolph said the situation reminded her of the same position Tina Fey found herself in, when it was discovered how close she looked to Sarah Palin, and was persuaded to impersonate the senator during the 2008 presidential election.

The audience then re-watched the clip of the former NAACP Spokane president in which she storms off camera after being asked whether she is African American or not, before Rudolph deftly dons a Dolezal-esque wig to re-enact the interview with Meyers.

The impersonation has been widely celebrated in ways that Kelly Osbourne’s own efforts were not.

Osbourne dressed up in her own Dolezal-esqe wig and posted a selfie to her Instagram account with the words: “#CallMeRachel #MyCasualLook”.

Osbourne had recently quit Fashion Police after her co-star said actress Zendaya Coleman’s dreadlocks looked as though they smell “like patchouli oil, or maybe weed”.

Osbourne’s fans accused her of having “double standards” after she posted the picture of herself looking like Dolezal.
