Rapper Doe B was shot dead in Alabama in the early hours of Saturday morning, his management has confirmed.

The promising 22-year-old star, real name Glenn Thomas, who wore an eyepatch after being shot in the face three years ago, was signed to T.I’s Grand Hustle Hustle label. He was killed alongside Kimberle Johnson, also 22.

Their deaths followed an incident at the Centennial Bar and Grill on Highland Avenue in Montgomery.

Police responded to reports of a shooting on the Highland Avenue at around 1.30am. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. Doe B was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Six others were also hospitalised with gunshot wounds, local news station WSFA reports.

Doe B's passing was confirmed by his management team, The Blueprint Group, via his official Twitter page.

The group later released this statement: "Doe B was an amazing young man, in every sense of the word.

"A truly talented artist, a loving father and a dedicated member of the hip hop community at large, he touched the lives of the many people who had the privilege of knowing him.

"The Blueprint Group offers our condolences to our Doe B label partners Interscope/Hustle Gang, his management DJ Frank White and Brooklyn Knights, and most of all his family, friends and fans at this very difficult time.

"We ask that you remember him not by his untimely death, but by his love of life and the music he left behind."

Rapper T.I also posted a message of personal condolence on Twitter.

Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange has since ordered the closure of the Centennial Bar and Grill where Doe B was shot.

According to AL.com, the venue used to be known as the Rose Supper Club, which lost its license and was shut down a year ago after six were injured during another shooting.

At present, no arrests have been made in connection with Doe B’s shooting but police continue to investigate.

Doe B's contributions to the Hustle Gang's G.D.O.D. marked him out as an artist to watch. His reputation continued to snowball with the release of his own mixtape, Baby Jesus.
