Tiger Woods confirms relationship with Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn
Tiger Woods has confirmed he is in a relationship with Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn.
The former world number one golfer posted pictures of the two together on his official website.
In a statement posted on the site he said: “This season has been great so far and I’m happy with my wins at Torrey and Doral. Something nice that’s happened off the course was meeting Lindsey Vonn.
“Lindsey and I have been friends for some time, but over the last few months we have become very close and are now dating. We thank you for your support and respecting our privacy. We want to continue our relationship, privately, as an ordinary couple and continue to compete as athletes.”
Woods was previously married to Swedish model Elin Nordegren, but the couple divorced in 2010 after it emerged that the golfer had had a series of affairs.
The 37-year-old has since begun to rebuild his golfing career with two tournament wins in 2013.
World-champion skier Vonn, who won the women’s downhill gold medal at the 2012 winter Olympics, also posted a message to her Facebook page confirming rumours that she was romantically involved with Woods.
“I guess it wasn’t a well-kept secret but yes, I am dating Tiger Woods. Our relationship evolved from a friendship into something more over these past few months and it has made me very happy," she said.
“I don’t plan on addressing this further as I would like to keep that part of my life between us, my family and close friends.”
Vonn is also divorced, after splitting from her former coach Thomas Vonn in January.
