Woody Allen will star in his new film

Woody Allen will star in his new movie 'The Bop Decameron'.
The legendary filmmaker has announced the cast for his latest project - set in contemporary Rome but loosely inspired by Giovanni Boccaccio's classic collection of novellas 'The Decameron' - with Alec Baldwin, Roberto Benigni, Penelope Cruz, Judy Davis, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig and Ellen Page joining him in the film.
Although plot details are being kept under wraps, the film is set to feature four vignettes, one of which will see an American couple - with the husband played by Woody - who travel to Italy to meet the family of their daughter's fiance. The other stories will focus on an American couple and two Italian couples, although none of the individual storylines will intersect.
Co-stars on the project include Antonio Albanese, Fabio Armiliata, Alessandra Mastronardi, Ornella Muti, Flavio Parenti, Alison Pill, Riccardo Scamarcio and Alessandro Tiberi.
The $24.8 million budget film is being produced by the director's longtime partners Letty Aronson and Stephen Tenenbaum for Gravier Productions and will be financed by the Italian production and distribution company, Medusa Film.
Shooting is expected to begin in Rome - the first time the director has worked there - on July 11.
