Doug Lishman, footballer, died Stoke-on-Trent, aged 71. Arsenal's top scorer in five of his seven full seasons at the club from 1948 to 1956. Played for Nottingham Forest 1956-57.

Andy Albin, actor, died Los Angeles 27 December, aged 86. Appeared in vaudeville in the 1930s. His film credits include Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest (1959).
