Bishop Pateliso Finau, priest, died Niue 2 October, aged 59. Leader of the Roman Catholic Church in Tonga, where he was a dominant figure, practising liberation theology and supporting the country's pro-democracy movement. Consecreated a bishop 1972. Head of the Pacific Conference of Churches.
