Chris Ushewokunze, politician, died near Harare 17 January, aged 49. Minister of Industry and Commerce in Zimbabwe 1992-94. Trained in London as a barrister, and later returned to Africa as a lecturer at the University of Zambia and a consultant with the UN. One of Zimbabwe's first top black civil servants after independence in 1980.
