Dolly Haas, actress, died New York 16 September, aged 84. A star of the German cinema, after the rise of Nazism she moved to London and then New York, where she landed leading roles on and off Broadway. Starred in Crime and Punishment (1947) with John Gielgud and Lillian Gish, and appeared in productions of Brecht. She returned to film roles in 1953 with Alfred Hitchcock's I Confess.
