Donald Atwood, businessman died Detroit 24 April aged 69. Former US deputy secretary of defence and vice-chairman of General Motors Corporation 1987-89. Called to the Pentagon in 1989 by President George Bush and his defence secretary, Dick Cheney, for his business and financial expertise.
