Frank Bridges, colonial administrator, died 6 January, aged 98. Co- founder in 1930 of the Nigerian Field Society to encourage interest in the country's wildlife, history, customs and arts; the society had 600 members by 1939 and now has a branch in the UK. Administrative officer in Nigeria 1921-49.
