Gianfranco Masini, conductor, died Reggio Emilia, Italy, 18 June, aged 55. Head of the Montpellier Philharmonic Orchestra for the past 18 months and musical director of the Montpellier Opera. His last performance was in early June when he conducted a series of performances of Verdi's La Forza del Destino at the Montpellier Opera.
