Obituary: Ignace Strasfogel
Ignace Strasfogel, pianist, conductor and composer, died New York 6 February, aged 84. Resident conductor of the Metropolitan Opera, 1951-74. He studied piano in Berlin and was an accompanist for the violinist Joseph Szigeti, the cellist Gregor Piatigorsky, the singer Lauritz Melchior and others. Director of the opera department at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.
