John Bradley, soldier, died 11 January, aged 70. The last survivor of the six US servicemen who raised the US flag on Mount Suribachi, Iwo Jima, on 23 February 1945. The scene was immortalised in the iconic photograph, taken by Joe Rosenthal, which became the model for the Iwo Jima Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington.
