John Gilbert Simon, 2nd Viscount, businessman, died 5 December, aged 91. Deputy Chairman, Ministry of War Transport 1947-58; Deputy Chairman, P & O Navigation Company 1951-58. Chairman of the Port of London Authority from 1958 to 1971, during the technological refurbishing and reshaping of London's docks.
