Sylvain Floirat, industrialist and entrepreneur, died 14 March, aged 93. Known as the 'man with the golden fingers' and the 'national salvage man', he rose from modest beginnings to became a leading French industrialist with interests that included the popular radio station Europe I, aeronautics, publishing and luxury hotels.
