Obituary: The Rev Timothy Healy

The Rev Timothy Healy, died 30 December, aged 69. A Jesuit Priest, he was President of the New York Public Library (1989- 92) and a former president of Georgetown University (1976-89), where he had a reputation as an exceptional fundraiser with the school's endowment rising from dollars 30m to almost dollars 250m during his office. Aroused controversy by refusing to recognise student homosexual groups. A court eventually ruled that they could not be denied resources.
