Valentina Grizodubova, aviator, died 28 April, aged 83. Thought to have set a flight record for distance flown by women when she and two other women pilots flew more than 3,700 miles from Moscow to the Soviet Far East in 1938. Commander of an air regiment of the Soviet long-range air forces.
