Victor Dix, surgeon, died, aged 93. Professor of Surgery at London University 1947-64. Developed an interest in urology, setting up a purpose-built endoscopy out-patient suite at which new treatments for bladder cancer were developed. A skilled and delicate operator, especially with the classical lithotrite, a device used to crush stones in the bladder. Founder member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons and president in 1962.
