William J. Harrington, blood specialist, died Miami, aged 68. Researched into blood and autoimmune disorders, particulary into the cause of idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura, a condition which leaves sufferers bruised from the slightest touch - ITP became the first documented autoimmune disease. Founder of the Center for Blood Diseases at the University of Miami.
