Little Mix star Perrie Edwards breaks down in tears during emotional performance with bandmates
Fans show their support for the singer as #WeLoveYouPerrie trends on Twitter
Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards broke down in tears during an emotional performance in New York.
The singer has played down her heartache following the very public split from former One Direction singer Zayn Malik, but couldn’t hold it together singing the lyrics to the song 'The End', which features on the band’s upcoming third album Get Weird.
As her bandmates gathered around her to support her, Jesy Nelson turned to the crowd and joked that “It’s been a long day, and we’ve had no sleep, so I think this is why this has happened.
"We’re just very emotional.”
The audience then began chanting “We love you Perrie” in support, which soon trended on Twitter
Despite being dumped over text by Malik, who has gone on to argue, moan and bicker in public, Perrie has held her head high and focused on her music.
'Black Magic', their current single, spent three weeks at the top of the UK charts, while interest in One Direction’s Malik-less song 'Drag Me Down' petered out much sooner.
The X Factor girl group also won their first Teen Choice Award for ‘Breakout Artist’ last week.
