Phil Rudd wants to return to AC/DC after threatening to kill charge: 'I don't care who likes it or who doesn't'

The drummer was cleared of attempting to arrange a murder

Phil Rudd plans to return to work.

The AC/DC drummer remains on bail after being charged with threatening to kill and drug possession, with a hearing scheduled in February 2015. The threatening to kill charge carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.

In November, Rudd was arrested accused of attempting to arrange a murder, but the charge was dropped because of a lack of evidence.

“I'm going back to work with AC/DC, I don't care who likes it or who doesn't,” he told New Zealand’s One News. “I want my job back and I want my reputation back.”

“Everyone listens to the wrong people, they should listen to me, I'm a good guy, and I'm a pretty good drummer by the way - ask Angus he'll tell you.”

Angus Young, AC/DC lead guitarist, said in November that Rudd’s behaviour had been erratic during the making of their new album.

“We had a few issues before with him, even when we were recording it was hard even to get to him to do the recording,” said Young.

“And then he was supposed to show up to do promos with us, to do video shoots and a few shoots and a few other things, and he never showed up for that either. So, at this stage, it’s a pretty tough call for us.”

Rudd has called the allegations made against him “ludicrous”.

“This has just been a big ball of cheese and all the rats are gathering and having a piece, that's just life, but that's not who I am,” he said.
