Patsy Kensit: You Ask The Questions

So, do you enjoy your role as a back-stabbing temptress? And do you regret marrying Liam?

Is it better playing a backstabbing temptress in Emmerdale or the Bear's empty-headed, sexy mum in A Bear's Tale?
VICTORIA LANCEY, VIA E-MAIL

Well they're both very different characters and that, for me, is the best thing about them. But Sadie is my proper job and has been the role of a lifetime for me.

What's the best thing about being a soap star?
KEIRON JEFFERS, LIVERPOOL

You get to cover the whole spectrum of human emotions and every week is different. Sometimes you're essential to the story line, and then other weeks all you've got to do is go into the Woolpack and order a drink.

What's more satisfying: pop star or actress?
MICHAEL THOMAS, VIA E-MAIL

My musical career was sort of a distraction from what I really wanted to do. I knew I didn't have the capacity to be a great singer. To be honest, I cringe a little bit when people talk about Eighth Wonder because I'm a mum and I think my eldest son would be mortified if he knew much about how I was back then.

What was it like having Reggie Kray as a godfather?
ROBERT WESTENRA, VIA E-MAIL

Reggie Kray was my brother's godfather, not mine. I never met the Krays, it was just part of my father's past.

You've said that you live vicariously through Sadie King's character. Does playing her help you repress some of your wilder tendencies?
PETER ROURKE, VIA E-MAIL

You know what, I'm pretty boring these days. It's fun to go into work and to pretend to be this mad person when usually I'm just a normal mum with a bad back! I just kill myself laughing at the way that she speaks to people - I would never behave in such a way.

Are you still best friends with Elizabeth Hurley?
MYRIAM KHAN, LANCASHIRE

Actually, my best friend is a lady called Ang, who's a normal mum. Elizabeth is a girlfriend of mine but we don't see each other much because our lives are in different places at the moment. My life isn't very showbizzy any more.

Absolute Beginners has been called the worst film ever. Is that true?
JASON SALLES, HULL

I don't actually think that's true any more because it's now constantly shown on FilmFour and referred to as a classic. I knew that would happen over time. When it came out it was hyped so massively that it was impossible for people to see the charm of it. It was flawed, but I think it has become a real marker of what was going on in early-Eighties London.

Do you have any regrets about marrying Liam Gallagher?
SHARON SINCLAIR, SOUTHEND-ON-SEA

No. I've got great relationships with both the fathers of my children. For the last five years I have chosen to live my life in a very different realm from when I was married to Liam and I do find personal questions like this very difficult now, but I understand why people want to ask.

How did it feel to be beaten by an 11-year-old at last year's National TV Awards?
PHILLIPA RYAN, MANCHESTER

You couldn't feel anything, except how adorable he was! And talented as well, he deserved it. I was thrilled for Sam [Aston, who plays Chesney Brown in Coronation Street], he's such a cute kid and good luck to him.

You have been famous since you were six. Would you encourage your own children to go into show business?
ALISON LONG, VIA E-MAIL

Absolutely not. The thought fills me with horror. I'm grateful for all the opportunities I've had: it got me out of where I came from and I've had an amazing life, but my boys are having a childhood.

You've bought the rights to the story of the Cathy Come Home actress, Carol White. Will you be playing her soon?
FARRAH SULLIVAN, LONDON

I think Carol White was a genius and her story was tragic. She made three films, including Cathy Come Home with Ken Loach, which was one of the biggest television events of the Sixties and helped to set up the homeless charity Shelter. Then the great irony is that she went to Hollywood and ended up dying like her character Cathy lived - penniless and alone. I would love to play her.

Victoria Beckham has just been voted 'most pointless celebrity' by a Channel 4 poll. Who would get your vote?
NIKKI O'REAGAN, VIA E-MAIL

Oh, man. I don't even know what it means! I couldn't honestly give you any answer to that.

You once said: 'All I want is to be more famous than anything and anyone.' Have you achieved your goal?
SIMON M. HOTHERSALL, VIA E-MAIL

I said that when I was 16 and young and stupid. Anyone who looks back on themselves at that age comes out in a cold sweat, I'm sure. It was a dumb thing to say but I meant it at the time. All I really wanted to do was be a working actress and that's where I'm at right now.

You seem to have a penchant for marrying pop stars. If you get married again, will it be to another pop star?
LOUISE MUNRO, GUILDFORD

I've discovered the luxury of having a private life in recent years and it's something that I hold very dear. I date and I have a very healthy private life but it's something I don't want to share with everyone. We all learn from our experiences and I've learnt that there are just some things I shouldn't talk about any more. There is more to me than who I am seeing
