Renee Zellweger doesn't care about appearance comments because she is too busy living in the real world

The actress had an excellent response to the reports commenting on her face

Being high-profile and a woman in 2016 still means your appearance will be analysed, judged and scrutinised for any signs of ageing or changes, a sad fact Renee Zellweger knows all too well.

The Bridget Jones’ Baby actress faced endless articles speculating about her face in 2014 after a red carpet appearance, something that was addressed in an interview with the Today Show on Friday.

But, as Zellweger coolly explained to host Sheinelle Jones, she doesn’t have to care about what people on social media say about her face because she is too busy living in the real world and having "real experiences".

“I remember a couple of years ago people were talking about, ‘Oh, she changed her appearance.’ Does it bother you, does it get to you or is it just par for the course?” asked Jones.

“It’s not really part of my life,” Zellweger responded. “It’s part of the job that I don’t really experience except when I step into this arena.

“In my home I’m not aware of it. I don’t do any kind of social media, so I don’t see it. I like to have – I guess you would call them real experiences.”

The furore surrounding Zellweger's appearance went on for weeks, with the New York Daily News even inviting plastic surgeons to analyse each part of her face in photos.

Unfazed, Zellweger responded calmly to the claims at the time. “My friends say that I look peaceful," she told People. "I am healthy.”
