The wife of Richard Dreyfuss has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and a hit and run.

Svetlana, wife of the Jaws and The Goodbye Girl actor, was arrested on 2 June in Encinitas, California, for allegedly crashing her car into a wooden fence and severing a high pressure water line before driving off, TMZ reported.

She was stopped by San Diego County Sheriff Deputies two miles away from the scene.

According to TMZ, Svetlana said she had only drunk one glass of wine and believed she passed field sobriety tests.

However, the website also reported that she was booked for DUI and hit-and-run charges and the case has been referred to the District Attorney’s office.

Academy Award-winner Dreyfuss, 66, is himself no stranger to the dangers of driving while under the influence.

He has been sober since 1982 after he blacked out and crashed into a palm tree while driving his Mercedes.

Dreyfuss married Russian-born Svetlana in 2006. He was previously married to Jeramie Rain and Janelle Lacey.
