Landmarks across the UK will turn pink tonight in celebration of the birth of a daughter to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

London's Tower Bridge, the London Eye, Trafalgar Square's fountains and Blackburn Tower will all light up pink this evening after the Duchess gave birth to a baby girl this morning at 8.34am after being admitted to St Mary’s Hospital’s Lindo Wing.

However, not everyone is happy about the “sexist” decision, with others pointing out that previously blue was the colour associated with girls, not pink.

There was also a vague discussion over whether the BT tower - which emblazoned "It's a girl!" across it's screens - had turn pink or purple.
