Sean O’Haire took his own life, it has been reported.

The former WWE wrestler was found hanged by his father at his home in South Carolina, local police sources were quoted as saying.

The cause of the 43-year-old athlete’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

O’Haire, who towered at 6ft 6ins, made his debut in WCW in 2000. He went on to win the tag team championship three times with his wrestling partner Chuck Palumbo.

He shot to fame when he joined WWE as veteran star Rowdy Roddy Piper’s protégé. However, his live career took a nosedive a year after Piper quit the ring in 2003.

He was often heralded among the most talented wrestlers – but failed to make it to the world championships.

He joins the shockingly high number of wrestlers to lose their lives prematurely since 1990 – the current figure standing over 200.

He collapsed and died after suffering a heart attack in front of his wife in Arizona as they returned to the hotel they were staying at.
