Simone Battle had been struggling to deal with financial pressures before she took her own life, it has been reported.

The promising pop singer and member of girlband G.R.L was found hanged in her West Hollywood home by her boyfriend on Saturday (6 September). She was just 25.

A Los Angeles County Coroner has since ruled her death to be suicide.

According to TMZ, family sources told law enforcement that Battle had become depressed over money worries and frustrated that her band were yet to break through into the US mainstream.

“Words cannot express the depth of our loss. Simone's incredible talent was only surpassed by the size of her heart,” the band’s remaining members tweeted in tribute.

However, they have since insisted that they will “carry her memory with us in everything we do”.

Their scheduled gig at the Marquee nightclub in Las Vegas, set to take place Monday (8 September) evening, was cancelled following the tragic news.

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Simon Cowell paid tribute to the singer, who rose to prominence in 2011 after an appearance on the US version of X Factor.
