A stunt double who appeared in the latest Star Wars blockbuster, The Force Awakens, is to have her arm amputated after suffering a serious on-set injury earlier this year.

Olivia Jackson, from Buckinghamshire, revealed the extent of her injuries to the Sun, saying: “My left arm is paralysed and is going to have to be amputated.”

The injuries reportedly occurred when Ms Jackson, 34, was filming a high-speed motorbike chase stunt in South Africa for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which stars Milla Jovovich and is expected to be released in September 2016.

She reportedly crashed into a metal camera arm; the camera arm is believed to have “malfunctioned” and did not lift up when she approached.

Following the incident, Ms Jackson was put in an induced coma, she also suffered head injuries, a punctured lung and facial scarring.

“My facial scarring is horrible and I wish I had my old face. But I’m truly grateful to be alive,” she reportedly told the paper.

Ms Jackson has previously had stunt roles in Mad Max: Fury Road, Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
