Strictly Come Dancing final: Claudia Winkleman leads standing ovation for doctors who cared for her daughter

Claudia Winkleman thanked the doctors who cared for her daughter at the Chelsea and Westminster burns unit during the Strictly Come Dancing final last night.

The TV presenter, 42, introduced five women she had invited to the show, who quickly received a standing ovation from the audience.

“Some of you may know that my daughter had an accident,” Winkleman told the crowd before the cameras started rolling, according to The Mirror.

“She’s fine now, but some special people are here, the people who looked after her. Thank you all so much.”

Winkleman’s eight-year-old daughter Matilda suffered bad burns after her Halloween costume caught fire on 31 October.

The Strictly co-host, who took over from Sir Bruce Forsyth earlier this year, was forced to take three weeks off as her daughter recovered from her injuries.

She too received a standing ovation when she returned to the ballroom after being temporarily replaced by Zoe Ball.

Saturday's Strictly final saw Caroline Flack lift the Glitterball trophy after achieving the first perfect 40 of the series from the judges last weekend.
