The highlights of the MTV Video Music Awards are typically the stand-offs between feuding parties, palpabale tensions and spats still brewing.

The seating arrangement alone requires months of planning, apparently just to process requests from Taylor Swift’s ever expanding squad to get a front row seat near the singer.

But this year audiences will be disappointed to learn that Swift will not be present at the event.

A source told the Independent Swift, who has not been nominated for any awards this year, was never scheduled to attend the ceremony.

Her absence comes after a stand-off with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West over a recorded phone call and follows reports West that he will have four minutes at the ceremony to do 'whatever he wants'. Considering last year he used his time on stage to announce his decision to run for President and delivered his famous, "Imma let you finish, but" line to Swift five years before, who knows what that could entail.
