Tess Holliday refuses to talk about her opinion on the term plus size: 'Here's my answer - f**k you'

The supermodel is tired of being asked about the controversy over the label

Tess Holliday will no longer divulge her opinion on the term plus-size - and anyone who does dare to ask her for it will receive an expletive-filled answer.

After outlining her view on the term on a number of occasions, the UK size 26 American supermodel and body positive campaigner is now refusing to reiterate her stance anymore.

Holliday, who recently launched her own plus-size clothing label, MBLM by Tess Holliday, wrote on Twitter:

“Do the plus models that don't want to be called plus realise that 'model' is a label too.. Or nah ?” she added.

Drop the Plus campaign and Plus is Equal have argued that 'plus-size' promotes body shaming while others believe rejecting the term promotes shame at being a bigger size. But Holliday is plus-size and proud, once telling The Independent she found groups like Drop the Plus “stupid”.

In a second post on Instagram, she explained her stance, writing: “There are plenty of things to get offended about, but taking a term that's never been used in hate and is merely a descriptor and trying to take away our community is not cool. #plussizeandproud”.

In an interview with this website, Holliday described the responsibility her platform has given her to tackle the ingrained, conventional and unattainable perceptions of beauty that leave women struggling with body confidence.

“I feel responsible to women everywhere, I didn't start my career to just speak to plus-size women, although that was a massive part of it," she said. "Women of all shapes and sizes have issues with their bodies and most are too afraid to talk about it because the media has made us feel ashamed. I hope through mine and other women’s work the next generation won't suffer the way we have, and that the media will get it's s**t together."
