Vin Diesel names baby after Fast and Furious co-star Paul Walker
Paul walker died in a car crash in 2013
Actor Vin Diesel has paid the ultimate tribute to his late friend and Fast and the Furious series co-start Paul Walker, by naming his newborn daughter after him.
Walker died aged 40 in 2013 when the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT his friend Roger Rodas was driving collided with trees and a pole in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department ruled out speculation that the accident had been caused by a mechanical failure, but rather by the speed at which they were travelling.
To honour his friend, Diesel and his girlfriend Paloma Jimenez's named their baby daughter Pauline.
"There's no other person that I was thinking about as I was cutting the umbilical cord. I knew he was there.
"It felt like, you know, a way to keep his memory a part of my family and a part of my world," he added.
The seventh installment of the Fast and Furious franchise, in which special effects were used to complete Walker's scenes, was premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival recently.
During the premiere, producer Neal H. Moritz paid tribute to Walker.
"He was really the best guy I ever met in my world -- in my life. When we decided we were going to continue this movie, we were determined to honor his legacy and our love for him forever," the Huffington Post reported.
At a recent preview of the film, Diesel said of Walker: "I lost my best friend. I lost my brother."
