He left bequests of effects and 98 per cent of the residue to relatives, and 1 per cent of the residue each to St Edmund Hall, to improve amenities of the Senior Common Room, and the Bodleian Library, Oxford.

Mr Leon Casimir Louis Gonet, of Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, former consultant orthopaedic surgeon to the Westminster and Victoria Health Authority, left estate valued at pounds 246,873 net.

Sir Walter Stewart Howard, of Leamington, Warwickshire, former chairman of Warwickshire County Council, Trustee of Shakespeare's birthplace, and Deputy Lieutenant of Warwickshire, left estate valued at pounds 282,182 net.
